Part Seventy Six

Val go walked as fast as she could, she didn't know where she was going but she just kept on walking, soon emotion took over and she fell to her knees and sobbed. It tore her apart to know that Urs was well and truly out of her life, that any feelings they may have had towards one another were now gone, the thought of him being close and intimate with another woman just too much. Now she had his daughter she couldn't see herself raising her, it would kill to know that there would always be this bond between them and that Freya would be as far as that bond went.

'Val what are you doing?'
'I'm sorry Urs I can't do this I can't raise her'

Birgit had insisted that Urs found Val while she must still be close to the hospital.

'Of course you can, you don't have to do it alone'
'I can't Urs I'm sorry'
'Why not?'
'Because I am still in love with you! I love you so much and I still hate myself for what I did to you and it kills me knowing that I can never get you back and...I...just...can't'

Val broke down again, sobbing violently, Urs took her into his arms and comforted her.

'I will always love you Val but we have to move on with our lives, we have created a life together and we should raise her together, I know it's not going to be easy especially with me and Il Divo but we can work it out'
'I'm in no state to be a mother Urs'
'Look don't make any decisions now ok, just come back with me and let your body recover'
'Urs if I never slept with Gary do you think we would still be together?'
'Don't do this to yourself Val'
'Tell me, I need to know'
'Yes we probably would and if I had never found Birgit then we would have probably got back together because of Freya but it would have been wrong because you can't just stay together because of a baby'
'Thank for being honest'
'Come on'

Urs walked her back to the hospital and they all acted like nothing had ever happened. Urs knew that this was going to be tough but right now all he wanted was for his daughter to get well.

Carlos was walking up and down the hotel room.

'Urs can't make it, Val had the baby'
'She did?'
'Emergency c-section, little girl but she is premature'
'I hope she'll be ok'
'Talk about a month for celebrations'
'Oh God Seb what if she says no'
'Carlos she won't ok'
'I'm so nervous'
'That's only normal'
'It's just I want everything to be perfect'
'It will be listen she'll be here soon I better get going'
'OK oh and Seb?'
'Yes'
'Thanks for everything I doubt I would have been able to have done any of this without you or Louise'
'Just make sure you enjoy it Carlos'

Carlos took a deep breath as he was alone in a little while his plan would be revealed and he would be making Geraldine his wife, that thought elated him he couldn't wait to see her face.

'Ola!'
'Mi amor, your early'
'Well I can go back out again if you want?'
'No no don't be silly here let me take your bags'
'Thanks, what's the occasion? Everyone looks really weird tonight'
'All will become clear my love here have a drink'
'Thank you'

They clinked their glasses and drank.

'It's a lovely hotel'
'Geraldine would you sit down a minute'
'Sure'

As she did, Carlos already had tears in his eyes as he took her hands in his.

'Carlos what is it'
'We have been together for 11 years now Ger and I have loved every single moment, your the only person who can make me smile when I feel down and I know that I couldn't find a more perfect match for me, I want us to be together always so I want to ask you whether...Geraldine Larrosa would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?'
'Oh my God Carlos'

He pulled out the ringbox and his hands were shaking as he showed her the ring.

'So?'
'Of course I will marry you I would be honoured'
'Oh you don't know what a relief that is'
'Carlos you must have known you would have said yes'
'Well I did but you see the thing is is that we are getting married tomorrow'
'What?'
'Everything has been organised but tomorrow is our wedding day my love'
'Oh my God are you being serious?'
'Deadly'
'Oh Carlos'

Geraldine flung herself into his arms and cried, she was so happy which started Carlos off.

'I love you so much Carlos'
'Now you have to go down to your room, everything is already there'
'What do you mean everything?'
'You will soon see'

Geraldine floated down to her room, when she opened the door Louise was already there.

'You knew about this?'
'Yep why else do you think we went wedding shopping every weekend?'
'I cant' believe this is happening'
'Well believe it sweetie cos it is really happening and I have been designated as your maid of honour'

The girls laughed and both were crying, Geraldine couldn't sleep that night instead her and Louise stayed up all night talking about how lucky they were to have met their men.

David and Emily had arrived at the hotel, Emily was showing of the smallest bump, she felt massive herself but David assured her that she looked beautiful.

'I can't believe Carlos has done all of this'
'Well he's in love'
'I cant' wait until it's us'
'Me neither'
'I just hope I don't look like an elephant in my dress tomorrow'
'Sweetie your pregnant and you will look radiant'
'Thank you'

They kissed passionately as they got into their hotel room and almost fell over their suitcases as they fell on the bed, lips still attached.

'Are you sure you feel up to this'
'David I'm pregnant not ill'
'I know but'
'David shut up and kiss me'
'Yes ma'am'

David did as he was told and never had their love making been so beautiful. David was gentle and tender and Emily was responsive and warm. She loved David so much and she loved the fact that she was carrying his child.

Part Seventy Seven

Geraldine couldn't believe that today was her wedding day, the day she had dreamt of for so long. She was up talking most of the night to Louise, Louise would not reveal anything though. Geraldine rushed out of bed and woke Louise up.

'Can you believe I am getting married today?'
'Believe it hun it is really happening'
'I just can't believe that you, Carlos and Seb have organised it all'
'Just enjoy it sweetie, cos today is all about you'

Louise got up and ordered them both a champagne breakfast to get them in the right frame of mind, Geraldine couldn't wait to say I do to Carlos, she couldn't wait to see the dress, the arrangements she knew that it would be perfect and everything that she had ever wanted.

Seb was in charge of getting Carlos up and ready on time.

'Well Carlito this is it, no changing your mind now'
'I wouldn't want to change it, you know when you are just so sure of something'

'I just wish I had done this sooner'

The guys went over to the venue to give everything the once over and check everything was ok, Carlos couldn't believe that tonight Geraldine was going to be his wife.

David was the first to awake, Emily was fast asleep cuddled up to him, he had never felt closer to her than he did last night, he couldn't believe how beautiful she was. He wondered how Carlos and Geraldine were feeling knowing that today would change their lives forever. Then he thought about how he would feel on his wedding day, he couldn't wait for his wedding day. They had already made some arrangements, everything was happening so quickly, they would move into the house, have their baby and then get married. David smiled they were doing everything in the wrong order but he didn't care, it was right for them.

'Hey you'
'What's the time?'
'Still early'
'God I feel so sick'
'Morning sickness again?'
'Yeah but it'll be worth it in the end when the little one gets here'
'It sure will'
'What do you want a girl or a boy?'
'As long as it's healthy and has 10 fingers and 10 toes I don't care'
'Good'
'It doesn't matter anyway cos we will try again until we have as many of each as we want'
'Oi I haven't even had this one yet and your already planning the next one'
'I know but I want us to have a big family Em, I want to have a proper family with you and raise them'
'We willl, you will be an amazing father'
'I hope so'
'I know so'

David kissed her forehead and knew that she was feeling ill so just left it at a simple cuddle.

'I can't wait until it's our wedding day'
'Me niether sweetheart, I am already counting down the hours'

They spent most of the morning in bed at only got up at 12 when Emily had to go to the brides suite to get her bridesmaid dress on.

Urs, Birgit and Valerie were all still at the hospital with Freya, the doctors had told them that they were hopeful for the outcome and this bought great relief to all 3. Urs couldn't help but feel bad about not being at Carlos's wedding but his daughter needed him. Birgit noticed he looked a bit down.

'What's up?'
'I should be there Bir to see him get married'
'Then go, it'll do you good to get out of here for a while'
'But Freya and Val...'
'....will be fine, I'll stay here ok'
'Are you sure?'
'Yes I'll keep an eye on them both and if they need you I'll phone you'
'I don't know Bir I mean'
'Urs you'll regret it if you don't'
'What would I do without you?'

They kissed and Urs got his stuff and rushed to get to the hotel Carlos was in, thankfully Carlos had chosen to get married in Paris so it wasn't too far for him to go.

Louise, Geraldine and Emily were having fun, the 2 girls were laughing about Emily's paranoia about looking like and elephant in her dress.

'You will look stunning'
'David will think you look radiant'
'I can't wait until it's us getting married'
'You know you are so lucky the first man you meet, you fall in love with and know he is the one for you'
'Well we have had our ups and downs but you know I can't imagine my life without him'
'Anyway Geraldine it is time for you to get into your frock, now remember that time we went wedding dress shopping?'
'Yes'
'And you tried on that dress'
'Yes'
'Well guess what you are wearing?'
'No he didn't how did he know?'
'He doesn't he told me to make sure that you found a dress that day and the one you liked I bought on his behalf and hid it, so he doesn't know what you will be wearing'
'This is too much'

Urs rushed into the hotel and found Carlos and the rest of the guys.

'Urs what are you doing here, I though you were at the hospital'
'I was but I know how much this means to you and I wanted to be here'
'Thanks for coming, it means a lot'
'So how is the little one?'
'Freya, she is doing well doctors think she will recover fully and have a normal childhood'
'That's fantastic, and Valerie?'
'She is a bit down at the moment but I'm sure once she sees Freya will be ok she'll be fine'

Soon it was time for the ceremony to begin, Carlos walked down accompanied by his parents he was so happy that they could join him on this special day

Next Geraldine's mother would be the one who was walking her down the aisle to give her away Geraldine felt like a princess in her dream gown as she walked down the aisle.

Geraldine couldn't believe how perfect everything looked, she could do nothing but smile when she stood before Carlos to say her vows, to swear to spend the rest of her life with him.

The wedding photographer that Carlos hired made the photo's magical, capturing the youthfulness that the couple had and making it the fairytale that was their love.

The rest of the guys were only too happy to pose and each showed how happy they were and none of them could wait until it was their turn.

It was soon time for the first dance and Geraldine couldn't believe that she was married.

'I can't believe you organised all of this'
'For you I would have done anything'
'I love you so much Carlos'
'It's just after everything we have been through Ger made me realise how much I need you in my life, when I thought I was going to lose you I just couldn't imagine my life without you'
'Oh Carlos I'm here now though'
'When I knew that you were going to be ok I promised myself that I would make the most of the time that I have with you'

They spent the rest of the night talking to guests and thanking them, then it was on to the cutting of the cake.

Carlos had inscribed in the cake 'And They Lived Happily Ever After' and it was true their marriage was going to be happy and full of laughter.

Part Seventy Eight

After the celebrations Urs went back to the hospital, he was glad that he could be there for Carlos's big day but he was also glad that he could now get back to his daughter.

He saw Birgit in the room watching Freya, her eyes closing momentarily as he kissed her forehead.

'Your back'
'Yeah'
'How did it go?'
'Really well, how is she?'
'She's fine'
'Val?'
'I don't know Urs she hasn't spoken to me, I'm worried'
'Ok I'll go talk to her'

Urs now knew that he had to face up to reality.

'Birgit, I know that i have asked so much of you since we first go together, but there is something I need to know'
'Ok'
'If it comes to it and I have to raise Freya by myself, would you stay and help me? Would you be her mother?'
'Urs I have said from day one that I would support you and if Val really can't cope with it then of course I would stay, but Freya would need to know about her real mother Urs, I am not going to take her place'
'Thank you'

Urs kissed her and left the room to where Val was, he could tell that she had been crying.

'I can't do it Urs I can't'
'Val you may feel differently in a few weeks'
'No I won't the entire time I was pregnant I regretted keeping her I know that sounds awful but it's true, I never wanted children Urs'
'So what do you want to do?'
'Well you can raise her can't you?'
'It's not that simple Val, a daughter needs her mother at some point in her life, every child needs their mother'
'She has Birgit'
'It's not the same, no one understands their children better than their mother'
'I'm sorry'
'My job, travelling the world and being in a different hotel room every night is not a way to raise a child'
'So what then?'
'How about we have her for 6 months say and we keep in contact? You may feel differently then'
'Ok it's just right now I am in no frame of mind to raise a child Urs'
'It's ok we'll sort it'

He hugged her as she dried her eyes, Urs couldn't wait to get his daughter home and he prayed that this would work out. He needed it to work out and he knew that he could count on the other guys to help him out.

A month had passed and Freya was now able to be taken home. After Val had said goodbye she stood as she watched Urs and Birgit take her little girl with them to her new home. Val knew that she had made the right decision, she couldn't raise her.

'Here we are little on this is your new home'

Urs gave Freya a tour of the house and never tired of hearing her gurgle, Birgit also couldn't believe that they now had a baby in their home.

'I'll just go heat up her milk'
'Ok'
'Also didn't you say the other guys were coming round?'
'I know David and Emily are'
'Great'

Emily threw a shirt at David.

'Stop laughing it's not funny'
'Sweetheart your pregnant, of course you are going to get bigger'

They were both laughing and acting like children themselves, Emily was once again feeling down about the size of her bump. She couldn't fit into anything and she had constant backache.

'Oh I don't want to be pregnant anymore'
'Come on it won't be long now'
'6 more months! 6 months of not being able to fit into anything, back ache, swollen ankles and sickness'
'Sweetheart it will be all worth it, and you still look absolutely stunning to me'
'Thank you'

Emily also couldn't get over what this pregnancy was doing to her hormones, making love to David had never been so magical as it was when she was pregnant, David certainly wasn't complaining at the state of their love life with Emily's new hormones!

'Come on Urs is bringing his little girl home today and we said we would go and see her'
'Yeah if you can find a tent for me to wear'

They both laughed and David felt her bump he couldn't believe how big she was at 4 months and that was his baby in her, nothing amazed David more to think that their child was growing and Emily's body was protecting it and keeping it warm until they were ready to greet the outside world.

Part Seventy Nine

Urs and Birgit had had Freya for 6 months, Urs couldn't imagine life without her, but he knew that it was time to get in contact with Val and see how she was. Birgit had treated Freya as if she was her own daughter, she taken to motherhood so easily and naturally. All of the guys had taken it in turns to look after Freya and had fallen in love with her instantly. Urs was definately a natural father.

'Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?'
'No I need you to stay here with Frey, I need to talk to her first Birgit'
'Ok'
'You do realise that if she decides she wants her back we will have to let her go'
'Urs you will still see her though'
'I know but it won't be the same'
'Just go and find out'
'I'll call you'

They kissed and off Urs went, he was anxious about seeing Val again after all this time, they had spoken on the phone briefly to start off with but now they had very minimal contact.

All the preparations for David and Emily's wedding were in place they couldn't wait, Emily was blooming and was due to go into labour any day now. They had moved into their new house out in the countryside and never had life felt so good. Emily promised David that she wouldn't work whilst she was raising their children and would only return once they were old enough to go to school. David and Emily were both set on giving their children a normal upbringing.

They had flow out to the states as late as Emily was able to fly to invite his family to their wedding and everyone was looking forward to the birth.

Seb and Louise were staying with them, Seb wasn't going to miss the birth of his niece or nephew and Emily sometimes wondered who the father to be actually was.

'No David that picture goes in the dining room'
'But it went in the lounge in the flat'
'Yes dear but we aren't in the flat anymore are we'
'You two already sound like you have been married for 50 years'

Seb chuckled as he walked past, Emily playfully punched him in the arm and then grabbed her stomach'

'Urm oh'
'Emily?'
'Something hurts'
'What is it?'
'OUCH!'

Louise heard and came in

'You ok?'
'Something hurts'
'Ok deep breath come on and sit down'
'I'll go get David'
'Ok Em just take a deep breath'
'OUCH'
'Urm honey I think your waters just broke'
'Oh God'
'No that's good'
'All over my new skirt as well'

Louise chuckled.

'Ok now come with me we are just going to go for a short walk'
'A walk now! Louise my waters have just broke'
'It will be a while yet before baby comes a walk will help speed things up and also will help with the pain'
'Is everything ok?'
'Yes David Emily has just gone into labour'
'Oh my God, well shouldn't we get to a hospital?'
'Not yet'
'David will take a walk with me?'
'A walk?'
'Yes Louise said it would be good'
'Ok sure'

David came over and helped Emily up.

'Just don't go too far guys'
'We won't'
'Lou sweetie are you sure this is a good idea?'
'Seb whose the doctor, it is a good method, it will calm them both down and help with pain'
'Ok'
'Now come on we need to get her things ready'

David was worried surely they should be on the way to the hospital.

'Can you believe we are finally having our baby!'
'It's amazing'
'Everything has just fallen into place'
'I know I don't think life could be more perfect'
'I can't wait to become your wife David'
'Me neither'
'OUCH!'
'You ok?'
'Yeah just another contraction OUCH!'
'Ok I think we need to get you back'
'David you will stay with me won't you?'
'You just try and stop me'

Soon all 4 were on the way to the hospital, everyone felt more secure knowing that there was a fully qualified doctor with them. Soon they were in the delivery room and David couldn't wait to hold his child, the moment was finally here, he remembered how happy he had been when Emily told him on Christmas Day and he couldn't believe how quickly the time had passed.

Emily had been a labour a long time now nearly 12 hours, she was exhausted but finally the big moment arrived.

'Ok Miss Bright big push now
'I CAN'T OH MY GOD I CAN'T PLEASE'
'Emily come on you can do this'
'I can't David it hurts I'm so tired please'
'You need to push now Emily baby is coming'
'Did you hear that sweetheart it will be over soon, come on you can do it'

Emily gritted her teeth and pushed with all she had, soon enough their child was coming.

'Ok I can see the head now Emily one more push and that's it'
'Come on baby'
'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'
'They here Emily they here, we have our baby'
'Are they ok?'
'They are perfect'
'Congratulations you have a little girl'
'A daughter Emily we have a daughter'
'Oh David she's perfect'

They both cried as she was put on to Emily's chest instantly they were both overwhelmed with love for this little girl. She was theirs.

'Thank you so much Emily this is the best Christmas present ever'
'She's ours David she is all ours'
'Yes she is'

They just sat there admiring her, finally Emily's life was complete and she had the family she always dreamed off.

Part Eighty

It was early evening Christmas Eve and Emily thought she had been dreaming all day. It was finally here, the happiest day of her life. Anna was in her crib behind her mother sleeping. As Emily looked out of the window she couldn't believe it, but it started to snow. Just like she had silently prayed it would.

David and Emily had arranged to get married in their very own castle in the Scottish Highlands, it was perfect and so romantic. Darkness was starting to close in and Emily knew she needed to feed Anna before she started to get ready to walk down the aisle.

Seb knocked on the door.

'Come in'
'Hey sis'
'Seb'
'Wow you look wow'
'I just hope David thinks so'
'How is she?'
'Hungry'
'Maman has insisted that Anna sit with her at the ceremony'
'Well who are we to argue with that'
'Emily I just wanted to say thank you for the honour of allowing me to give you away, I now know that I couldn't be giving you away to a better man'
'Thank you Seb I can't believe this is happening, I mean to me'
'But it is and you deserve it more than anyone I know'
'You know for all the bad things that our father did Seb, I do have to be thankful to him for one thing'
'What's that?'
'That I have you as my big brother'
'I thought it was the bride who was supposed to cry'

They both laughed.

'Right I better take this little lady to see her grandmother then I will be back to get you to see your husband-to-be'

Emily kissed her daughter's head and watched as she went, she reapplied her make up and waited for Seb.

Urs and Birgit were now closer than ever, Urs would never forget the way he felt when he went to see Valerie to find nothing there but a note saying that she was better, that she had her life sorted, that she knew Urs and Birgit would take care of Freya. She left a contact number and a forwarding address just in case Urs needed to find her desperately.

He was happy to be at David's wedding day with his soulmate and daughter by his side. Freya was a good baby and Urs could not wait to extend his family with Birgit.

David saw Seb with Anna and rushed over.

'Hey there gorgeous'

'I'm talking to my daughter'

'Here let me take her'

Seb handed David his daughter and smiled at how natural he was with her, he looked over at Louise and smiled, everything had fallen into place, he looked over at Carlos and Geraldine, Geraldine's baby bump was now starting to show and they were still in love like a pair of teenagers.

He never felt prouder than he had when he walked his sister down the aisle, he felt 10 feet tall and couldn't help but allow his eyes to water.

After saying their vows to one another, that was it they were finally husband and wife and as they kissed the whole crowd roared with applause and clapping.

'I love you Mrs Miller'
'I love you Mr Miller'

As they signed the registry guests were ushered through to the banqueting hall where a feast had been prepared, it was spectacular. Emily could not stop smiling as she looked down at her left hand and saw her wedding ring, she was sure that this was all a dream and that she would wake up and find that David or Seb didn't exist, that she was still all alone in her flat with her job and her little life, but she knew that nothing could feel more real than this moment in time, she took a mental picture of everyone having fun and laughing and never wanted that feeling to end.

It was time for their first dance when suddenly something very bizarre happened.

She was in large room that was full of people, she couldn't really make out who they were, but for some reason she just knew that she knew them. David was walking towards her all dressed up and held out his hand to her, she took it and allowed him to take her to the dance floor, as he pulled her close to his body, that moment couldn't get anymore perfect.

As she swayed across the dance floor in the comfort of David's arms, she saw Seb, Carlos and Urs also standing at the edge of the dance floor all dressed in suits.

'This is the happiest day of my life David'
'Mine too Emily'

He was leaning down to kiss her....

Her dream it had now come true as David and Emily had their first dance together, in their kiss Emily had never felt so loved. Before she met David she knew no one, now the only people in the room were the ones who had loved her.

'You know David I have never told anyone this but when I was very young I used to gaze at the stars and you know one day I looked up at a star and I wished for something'
'Really?'
'Yes'
'What was it?'
'I wished that my life would get better, that I would have a happy life that all the pain and suffering would go away and that I could feel normal again, because of you and Seb my wish came true'
'It just goes to show what can happen when you....
